“Another printing of pocket calendars is complete and we will mail out the first 5,000 requests.” Better hurry! Odd but interesting concept…..

  2. Matt

This sounds like real crap! Watch out and read the material before you order this!

  3. kristen

    Interesting!!!!

  4. Lyric_Lover

Wiccan here, so Lunar Calendars interest me, just sounded a bit “cult” like, we’ll see when / if it arrives. Happy Valentines Day everyone.

  5. Jess

I have way too many free calendars already! I love free calendars. ;)

  6. Karen Zebra

I am very interested to see how good the quality is…….Hey Lyric_Lover…..do you really think it might be a “cult”??

  7. Pamala

O0O0O0O CAN’T WAITE TO GET THIS!

  8. Anne

That is some serious newage sewage right there. Man.

  9. DataFlake

I read their site. They sound like the Heavens Gate cult. These guys are real nut jobs. Thats my view anyways. I will pass on a 13 month calander. It isn’t even based on the roman calander which we use today. They made up their own.

  10. Tommy Watts

Ha Ha. Imagine that. A Wiccan calling something else a cult. Precious! Before you cast any spells on me Lyric_Lover my daughter is also a Wiccan. She lives in Denver Colorado and actually even though I don’t agree with her way of life she is a very good kid, wife, and mother and I’m very proud of her. Now, moving along. I figure that a person can’t have to many calanders. I’ve got them in just about every room in the house and I have all differen’t kinds. So…..Bring ‘em on!

  11. Lyric_Lover

Karen, I did not make that comment without much thought… Just my opinion mind you. .the reason I say this seems sort of “cult-like” is because I checked out other links on their site from the order page for this calendar… I am curious as to what exactly we will all receive.

From what they claim, they want to replace the current world calendar, and base it on the Maya.
But it doesn’t jive and some of their ideals / the way they word things “just-so” is interesting. ( I had a flag come up in my gut, never ignore that feeling)
There are .PDF files on there from someone who calls himself the incarnated Valum Votan…

    From my Wikpedia search…
Associations of Votan with Palenque have led New Age spiritual leader José Argüelles (put his name in Wikpedia and read all about this guy) to identify Pacal the Great as “Pacal Votan” and to identify himself as an incarnation of “Valum Votan”. However, no mention of Votan has been found in the inscriptions of Palenque despite considerable progress in the decipherment of the extensive Maya inscriptions known for the site

Votan has also been cited in the literature of Neo-Nazism and white supremacy that associates him with Quetzalcoatl and Kukulcan and asserts that he was a bearded, white European who came to Mexico in Pre-Columbian times. These interpretations are also considered to be problematic by recent Mayanist scholarship.

There existed many Mayan writings in hand script picture books, which were nearly all destroyed by the Spanish conquerors. Only three were saved, those are named by the place, where they are kept (Dresden, Paris, Madrid). Their culture and history are incomplete, as most of it was destroyed.

Like I said, curious about what, if any propaganda will come with the free calendar. It may be legit, but I am doubtful, and I am open-minded enough to know all about Steven Hawking and his Theory of Quantum Physics, we’ll see. I always think of Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Herb Applewhite, who was also known as “Do” (pronounced “Doe”), and pray that people do not feed into the crazies. As it is written…”Beware the false prophets” , I think that is a great rule. There’s lots of calendars out there, not all of them are Gregorian.

  12. TEGS

Takes all kinds of nuts to make a fruit cake
    lol

  13. Sheila Misra

Umm…I think I will pass on this one.

  14. kristen

    Again, very interesting!!

  15. mari

:( i got this so i would know when the nuts were out - - - i guess they were already released :(
thanks Lyric_Lover for the heads up!

  16. Lyric_Lover

Tommy, I saw your post and WOW…I had to respond to the ignorance you convey. Since I am all about enlightenment, let me help you out here….and try to neutralize some of the misconceptions…
Wicca is…A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a Mother Goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft. Not ALL are in covens, most are solitary practitioners, like myself.
Wicca is far from a cult, it IS, however, a legally recognized religion in these United States of America and our Military.
Plenty of pagans (not all Wiccan) are fighting and dying right this minute for freedom, including yours to show your disrespect thru your comment. I am sure their parents are less judgmental of the beliefs if their loved one’s.
Maybe you might try reading about it a bit more before pointing the finger.
I did not say this calendar goup WAS a cult, I said I would wait and see, as I try never to dispel new ideas without investigation and educating myself, maybe something you could try sometime . Your interpretation of / response to my posting is sad.
Personal attacks due to ignorance are counter-productive. Um, White Witches do not cast spells to harm anyone, maybe if you were more respectful of your “good kid, wife, and mother” daughter that you are “so proud of” despite her spirituality (wow, nice touch from a parent) maybe you would not be so judgmental.
There’s enough hate in the world to go around, thanks for sharing your disdain.

Thank you to all here who accept and respect what I was trying to share in regard to this calendar. Just wanted to share my research on this as others have. I had no idea that I would end up needing to defend the fact that I have an open mind.
I am accepting of every religion that does not suck the mind (or the life) out of the lost, weak or vulnerable, or spew hatred, kinda like those terrorists who think everyone except them are infidels and must do it their way or die. I’ll stick with mine, you stick with whatever makes you happy. One of the freedoms I love about America. Blessed Be.

The 13 moon calendar is a bit complicated. I had one before and tried to figure it out because I believe the Gregorian calendar that we use is not the most accurate, but it is far too institutionalized for something as far out as the 13 moon calendar to take it’s place.

I never liked the fact that a couple of Ceasars stole days from February to add to their name sake months (Julius and Agustus, maybe you wondered why October wasn’t the eighth month when you learned that oct stood for 8… July and August got squished in after each stealing a day from February)

I heard Jose speak and he is down to earth with lofty spiritualism and though it’s been four years since I think he believes that if we moved away from the arbitrary calendar system western society uses that our world would begin to see some harmony again.

As the days change there are mantra like sayings. The sayings were odd to me, but they didn’t seem cult-like to me, but I am not a very good judge since I feel like a lot of organized religions verge on being cults as they preach to their members how to think, how to vote, who to mistrust… I think if the whole world did wake up and sound a peaceful thought to their enemy, we might be able to see a shift toward warld peace. Over the top idealism… yeah probably. My glass is more than half full.

  18. Joe

I do not disagree the natural harmony of man has been disrupted. Many things can be blamed for this. I am not trying to change the world or condemn anyones belief, I think this will be something interesting to see, That’s why I ordered it.

  19. Kim

I don’t know about all the above remarks. To each their own I always say, but I liked it for the interesting color schemes, and artwork. I am getting it for THAT.

  20. Tommy Watts

Lyric_Lover: You presume to much girl. My wife is X-Wiccan of many years. Notice I say “X”! Also just because a religion is legally recognized that in no way makes it right. You don’t have to give me Wiccan lessons. I know full well what it is. I’ll tell you this much you could do with a strong dose of Bible reading and reassessing your beliefs. Seems I know more about your “religion” than you do about mine.

Why are you so defensive? Having doubts? I was after all only teasing you.

By the way. It’s spelled Steven Hawkins! Not Steven Hawkings! It is his study of black holes that made him famous. Not quantum physics. Although he certainly played a major roll in quantum physics. Quantum physics actually has roots going all the way back to Einstein and even farther.

Now guys, this is not the place for this kind of thing so lets kiss and make up and move along. Okay?

  21. Tommy Watts

Very good. I just need to interject one or two more points here. Church’s cannot tell you who to vote for. The IRS will exempt you from the law that claims churches cannot be taxed. Ironically the IRS is Constitutionally illegal!

Church’s must teach right from wrong. Most average people are like sheep and can easily be duped. Teaching them what and who to be aware of is just a simple fact of life.

The true Christian (Like myself) lives almost solely by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Everything else is merely frosting on the cake allthough it is recommended a person reads the whole Bible for their enlightenment. I’ve read it several times now.

Jesus recommends that we go to church in order to be with like minded people for spiritual support. But he does not insist on this. I do not attend church.

Ever since the coming of Jesus the old laws were fufilled and now we have only two commandments. (A commandment is the ultimate law!) “Love your nieghboure as you love yourself but above all else love God!” -Jesus.

    Pretty simple huh?

God Bless You and Lyric Too!

  22. Harfus

They lost me when they quoted Algore…

  23. Charley

When all the religious believers realize and admit that they don’t really KNOW, there will be room for peace. This is simple - but so hard.

When all the believers and half-believers of psuedo-science , astrology and mysticism learn some actual, measurable, fact-based science, and these “others” are revealed for their empty logic - people may start to actually understand something based in reality.

A person with the intelligence to own and operate a computer, ought to be able to find their way over to amazon.com or any other book seller, find an intro to Astronomy book and read it.

Even a junior high level understanding of observed science, astronomy, and mathmatics will reveal this to be the stinkiness that it is.

  24. Cyndi

This seems VERY end-of-times to me. I got one to check it out. But as a mother with 4 children think this will more than likely go to the trash after my own investigation. lol

  25. Tommy Watts

Steven Hawkins, Issac Newton, Einstein, Gallalao, Church Hill and multitudes of a new scientific generation, all of our founding fathers firmly believe in God! The list is literally endless! 85% of all people in America claim to be Christian in one form or another.

BTW, I ordered one of those calanders for my daughter. Cool huh?

  26. Kimbie

Actually you ALL are wrong on the spelling of the man’s name. It is: Stephen Hawking

Go check out his OFFICIAL website if you doubt me:

    http://www.hawking.org.uk/home/hindex.html

  27. Kimbie

Actually you ALL are wrong on the spelling of HAWKINGS name. It is STEPHEN HAWKINGS. Do not believe me?? Google that spelling and you will find his OFFICIAL website.

  28. Kimbie

Oops, my bad. There is NO S on the end of Hawking. THIS is the correct spelling: STEPHEN HAWKING.

  29. Tommy Watts

My Bad! This will settle it once and for all!

Stephen William Hawking, CH, CBE, FRS, FRSA (born 8 January 1942) is a British theoretical physicist. Hawking is the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He is known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially in the context of black holes, and his popular works in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general.

  30. Jay

  31. Sharlene

Hey people, this isn’t a forum for arguing about your CHOICE of religion, it’s about a stupid calendar for cryin out loud…if you want it, get it, if not, move to the next item

  32. Melissa

Ok, so I’m just going to skip this one. It made you people crazy!

    ;)

  33. Jason

There’s a big 13-moon following in Portland Oregon, and one year on July 25 (my mom’s b-day) there was a huge gathering at a park to form a “Rainbow Bridge” and there were some people dressed up as the greys (aliens) and U.F.O. hats and weird stuff. They’re all just basicly hippies who are kinda weird, and listen to a lot of Art Bell, but I didn’t see anything “cultish” about them. I use the 13-moon calendar and as a Mathematician, I think this calendar makes a lot more sense as a practical time measuring method. As an analogy, if you use a ruler that measures 12 inches per foot, yet each inch has a different length and even one inch has variable length, then what would it mean to measure out 5 inches starting anywhere on the ruler? This is comparable to the modern Gregorian calendar. The 13-moon calendar just makes much more sense to me.

  34. onaka robertson

i would like a free copy of the 13 moon calendar
