Thank you and good morning, Burk and Friends! The question of the day is: What did you do last summer? (They asked me that question when I was in the second grade.) Smiles and Grins today, Mayor. I’m off to summer school. 8*)
I remember that very same question being asked as you returned to school, Chip!
Last summer, hummmmmmmm, well, we had a lot of BBQ’s. Planted some new flower beds, put up some preserves for the winter months. Did some quad and horseback riding. And took a nice trip to Pymatuning Lake and rented a pontoon boat for a very enjoyable day on the lake. And fed the fish at the spill way. Also, found a new (it has been around), but new to us, ice cream stand. A giant cone for under $2.00. So big, you need a dish to go with it before it melts. LOL! And we spent a lot of time right out in our back yard, bonfire, good eats, and family and friends! :-)
How about you Chip, what did you do last summer? Hey just wanted to mention, on the news this morning. Reports that Pa. is one of the worst places to be for allergies, and asthma. More over all reported cases of children’s asthma reported here. SCARY! Hope your lil Chippy is feeling better. Glad to hear he was improving!
Chip, made a little love, did a little dance, got down at night :^). Seriously though just hung out at home, cooked out, lounged in the pool, spent time with the grandkids. Last few years we’ve been taking a cruise in October. Come on Crappers, tell us all about it.
Mornin’, Y’all!
What I did last summer (not this one). Well, as you know, the real estate market was very bad. Not quite as bad here in Texas as other places, but we had to work our tails off to keep up. In July, we moved to a rental home while our new home was being built. The new house took a ton of time, but so well worth it. Then, we got our exchange student from Germany in August and the punk kids started school at the end of August! No vacation. With the new house and all, no money or time!
HEY!! We finally got rain today!! Not a 4 letter word around these parts!
Well boys and girls, I haven’t done a thing different over the summer for quite some time. I stay in the A/C and try to keep cool. In 2003 I went to Virginia to visit one of my best friends and we took a trip up to Gettysburg, Pa. That was something I had always wanted to do. I suggest it for anyone. Very lovely area there, no wonder Pres. Eisenhower had a home there. Then in 04 my friend came down here and we took all the kids and went to Bahia Honda State park in the Keys and rented a cabin. WOW! That was really fun. The Keys are so beautiful. If you google it, you can see the cabins where we stayed. Fun!
But the best trip of all was in ‘97 when we packed up in a ford ranger w/jumpseats and went to California and all parts in between, for 5 weeks. But that’s another story.
Last summer I moved from Oceanside CA to just north of Seattle. (CHIP– didn’t you say that you used to catch the waves @ O’side pier?) Anyway, spent the summer exploring my new Evergreen state. Tons of trees & water. It is so beautiful. Also it always stays cool here because of the convergence zone. 80 degrees is considered a heat wave! Absolutely love it!
Chip, that sounds like my kind of place!!! I just got my Washington state travel planner today. lol Wish I was actually planning a trip there, it looks heavenly.
Thats ok Gatorpaw! You can catch more of the scenery on old episodes of Twin Peaks & Northern Exposure. They sometimes shoot Greys Anatomy, as well as the movie Twilight. The guys from Deadliest Catch are from Seattle & when they are not out catching crabs, they always get the best tables at all the restaurants!
Coolcat, I don’t know how you remembered that I used to catch the waves in O’side, CA, but you’re right, I did! (that was MANY summers ago!) I used to go down there to see my Uncle, a major in the Marine Corp, stationed at Camp Pendelton Oceanside/San Diego. His daughter, my cousin, had some really cute girlfriends, which one of, I made my own. I was tanned with long black hair, wore my white pucca shells around my neck, primed-out for the summer…that’s what I did WAYYYYYYYY last summer! Hiya, gatorpaw! I’m glad that you’ve got Chipsters on the brain, ’cause we’re tasty Chips! LOL!
Yep, I’m always in for some ‘Chips’!… always was my downfall.
Have any of ya’ll been to Big Sir? WOW! I fell in love with that place while on my California trip. … and I don’t mean ‘trippin’ either. What a beautiful state, so much to offer. I love the drive up Hwy 1 from San Louis Obispo to Monterey. We drove through Fresno and over to Sequoia and from there to Yosemite. From there we went over into Nevada and down to Vegas. What an awesome trip that was for my kids and I. My oldest was 15 and youngest 5 at the time. Camping at Big Sir was the most beautiful experience of all. There was much more to that trip, I’ll tell about it tomorrow.
Good Morning, Burk! Yes, it is because of men and women like him, that we can say, “Good Morning”! May God be with him, my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his loved ones. + God be with them all! +
Hey can we all take a minute to think of the American soldier being held by the taliban and to send him well wishes. He needs us.
