Hey CoolC,
Yes, that me in there.
We will be opening for Blues Hall-of-Fame, Rock legend Johnny Winter when he makes his New England sweep. He not doing more than a handful of USA shows. He’s in Europe right now, and will be in South American all winter (no pun intended) except in January/February.
That is too cool! You are very talented! Is that your brother? Which one are you? Thats cool that you’re opening for Johnny Winters! “The Blues Legend”! (Muddy Waters called him his son.) I wish I could be there. That should be quite the show. How exciting for you! :~)
Maddog, obviously you have a fantabulous wife. I only know that since she & I share a birthday ;~)
I’m sure mine was a few years before hers, but Scorpios are definitely the best!! Hey Wolf, that sounds like a great gig. Our #3 is still pounding those drums in Austin. We miss him like crazy.
Hubby & I have some fun stuff up on EBay. Hope all you Crappers get a chance to check them out. Find us under these seller names: dreamplushpets and/or bobratfink. Coolcat, sorry couldn’t help with that cougar. Have any luck finding one?
Very Cool Wolf~~~What a huge honor to open for such a legend!! Good for you and your band.
Anyone see the movie “Lightning in a bottle”, ? I was about the history of the blues. Awesome movie and a must for anyone who likes the blues. I got turned onto Steve Ray Vaughn when I lived in Texas, love the blues now for sure!
~~I am going to be singing that song all day now thanks~~~!~
The Blues, Country, Rock and Gospel all have their roots deep in the Southern Plantation of yesterday. We do a lot with those wonderful Black Spirituals. Those songs can tear you up. I wish and wish again that there were recorders in those terrible years…but the passion of the slave signing in the fields has been written as simply other-worldly beautiful. Some sung in English others in the native African….must have been, beautifully heartbreaking.
SRV is as good a place as any to start. Listen to Joe Bonamasso, Gary Moore, Sonny Landreth, Mile Davis, Spenser Davis, Walter Trout Band, Gov’t Mule, The Allman Brothers, Robert Clay, Ray Charles….anything Motown Records, Chess Records or Stax (later Atlantic) Records put out…. soooo many greats — we can’t keep up with the requests. I’ve told the guys we should do an Laa-Request night with no set list
No, my Brother is also a traveling Beat-Mix DJ based out of VT. He tours Montreal to Virginia; the lil’ puke
Wolf- Do you like Robert J. & ‘Blind’ Willie Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Skip J. & Elmore James, & Sun House? Those are some of the Cds I have. I like all music. :~)
CMDR- Good of you to check in! I was getting worried…………..
I agree Wolf, awesome music from hard times!
Thanks for the recommindations, too~~~
” A Gypsy woman told my mother before I was born, you got a boy child’s comin, he’s gonna be a son of a gun.”
Good ol’ Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf (no relation), Big Bill Bloosy, Albert King, Albert Collins, Freddie King, Booker T & The MGs, Aretha Franklin, PineTop Perkins…… the list goes on and on……
So many folks think So-n-So wrote this song or that song….and get blown away when I pull out the original (well, iPod now)
I’m too beautiful for this. If not then walk away you monkey looking freak. How about some free ex-lax chocolate? Christmas is coming and i wanna bake some more Ex-Lax cookies for my guest. Or even Ipicac syrup for the Christmas punch. Gotta love it when a guest pukes off your porch.
“He gonna make pretty womens
Jump and shout
Then the world wanna know
what this all about
But you know I’m him
Everybody knows I’m him
Well you know I’m the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I’m him
I gotta white cat bone
I gotta mojo too
I got the Johnny Concheroo
I’m gonna mess with you
I’m gonna make you girls
Lead me by the hand
Then the world will know
That I’m the hoochie coochie man.”
Even though I am under the weather with a cold…this has been one of the best chatting days in crapperville since I have been back!!~~~
