David- that’s a cool hobby! Good luck! Or should I say have FUN! The ‘real’ treasure is in doing something with your family, isn’t it! (However if you find something good….I get 10 % ! )
:~)
News flash! IRON MAN is headed to California! You know who you are and you know what you said! LOOK OUT! LOL! Cause it is “S”ing ! Gr-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r! :-)
Yes Chip…Yosemite IS included! Climbing Half Dome is quite an accomplishment! Coincidentally I’ve got that on my “bucket list” !
Did your calves hurt the next day? Did you bring gloves for that rope? Is there a place to stay @ the bottom of the Dome cause it looks like you have to hike a whole day just to get there?? You’re the 2nd person I know that did that! Good for you!
:~)
Yosemite and all of it’s splendors…
When I climbed Half Dome, which took about 10 hours to hike up and back, my calves, legs, and the rest of my body, was healthy and in great shape. Not sore at all the next day. I did wear my leather motocross gloves to combat the occasional, loose, frayed wires that are found on the two vertical braided steel cables. (The last 200 feet of climb on that granite, which seems nearly straight up, can be waaaaaaaaay scary! One of the young ladies that I climbed with, looked down from about 100 feet up, and began to panic frantically! She started to cry with fear – and that made me shudder! If she let go or slipped, all her weight and energy would hit me solid, and all the hikers below me! I spoke to her in a sweet and gentle and calm tone of voice, convincing her that she was all right, that I had her, and that she was going to be okay, and not to look down anymore. She slowed her breathing, gather her wits, and continued climbing. Lesson – don’t look down!) Enjoy yourself on this hike, Coolcat! You’ll never forget it! Here’s a good link for you to get started:

THANKS Chip for all the info! That really does help me. I’m going to have to do ALOT more stair steppin, get some MAJOR gloves, and if I do end up falling …… I’ll bring the beer over to your house in Fresno! You’ve got an empty couch for recouperating right? I’m sure it won’t be more than 6 weeks, give or take! Thanks again! :~)
